Visitors to The National Trust for Scotland’s Bannockburn Heritage Centre will see the site for the last time this season, before it is demolished to make way for a new purpose built centre.
The 1960s building is being replaced by a brand new visitor centre set to open in 2014 to coincide with the 700th anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn.
Property Manager Scott McMaster said: “The centre has been at the heart of Bannockburn for a long time and has served it well. Our last year here will be a big success.
There are series of living history events from ‘strictly swashbuckling’ to academic talks.
“We’ll also be looking ahead to the amazing new facilities we’ll have onsite from 2014 – it’s going to be a whole new era for Bannockburn and visitors will be blown away.”
The National Trust for Scotland’s Bannockburn Heritage Centre opens for visitors on 1 March 2012.
It will close on 31 October and will then be demolished.
During 2013, there will be temporary visitor facilities onsite and the Bannockburn team will carry out an education outreach programme.
Construction for the new state-of-the-art visitor centre is set to start in mid-2012.
