Curiosities and gadgets were on display in one of the large tents at the Hethersgill Vintage Rally 2009.
Alan Head has been collecting stuff for many years and always has something new whenever you see him at an event.
Proudly displayed on the table this year was a six mouse mousetrap and a gadget for leading a bull around a farmyard.

Every year thousands of people pass through the small village of Burgh by Sands on their walk along the Hadrian’s Wall National Trail but few people realise the significance of the place.
For it is here that an English king, Edward I, died and is now remembered with a monument and statue.

Spanning the River Eden in the North West corner of the City of Carlisle is the Waverley or Eden Viaduct.

The Waverley or Eden Viaduct
With 6 arches the bridge is a Grade 2 listed structure. Originally a link between Carlisle and Hawick it formed a part of the Border Union Railway which came to be known as the ‘Waverley Route’. The bridge has the British Railways Board reference BRB etc 265. Upriver of the viaduct is the Willowholme Industrial Estate, the West Coast Main Line and the back of Carlisle Castle.
